Happy 8th Anniversary… CP!

I made Oilersmyth on June 4, 2006. Yeah, I’ve had accounts that were made before that. But Oilersmyth… that one was gonna be my main penguin. That’s the day I decided “I want to play this game, like, for real.”

Who would have known that this virtual world would have crafted the personality I have today. Club Penguin has taught me so many things, it’s really unbelievable that a game could do so much for someone. Club Penguin taught me how to read. How to be social. How to be clever. How to think outside of the box. How to think on the spot. How to take care of a pet. How to design an igloo. How to write. How to have fun. The list can go on forever. But the number one thing that Club Penguin gave me, that nobody else could, was experience. I’ve played this game every single day, for hours on end. The parties, the missions, the games, the igloos, everything was just so well made and put together for me, I knew instantly that the people behind this game had a clear and simple goal. To create an immersive virtual world experience for kids. I would come home everyday after school, looking forward to the next big party! Heck, I’d wake up early when I knew Rockhopper

One of my first and favorite parties.

was back in town!

Simply put, Club Penguin has changed my life. In a really, positive way. Thank you, Club Penguin, for making my childhood this much better. Thank you for teaching me everything you’ve taught. Thank you for everything. I really hope you realize how much of an impact you’ve had on my life.

Happy 8th Birthday, Club Penguin  ❤

Club Penguin Isn’t Dead!

Hey there!

Hope you’re all doing mighty fine! I’ve been pretty busy these weeks, so I don’t get much time to post on this blog. Today, I’m gonna talk about something many people talk negatively about. Disney buying Club Penguin. Lemme summarize this whole fiasco for you. So basically back in 2007-08, Disney bought Club Penguin for a large sum of money. Ever since, Club Penguin has gone through drastic changes, from
one end to the other. Many people hate Disney for making these changes. But guys, look at the big picture!

Back when Disney bought Club Penguin, the company that owned Club Penguin (New Horizions) were on the edge of shutting Club Penguin down. They had no money, and they needed help fast. So Disney jumped in and saved Club Penguin from closure. If it weren’t for Disney, I don’t think I would have all of my CP friends and passion for CP.

After they had bought Club Penguin, Disney pushed CP to new limits. They tried new things, and they brought Club Penguin to the DS, Wii, and the iOS App Store. If they were to keep everything the same, just imagine how boring that would be! Why would a company buy a game just to keep it the same?! Yeah some changes are frustrating, but change is what keeps this world going. Without change, we’d still all be using a 1980 Nokia flip phone. To move forward, you need change. Whether its good or bad.

Well. There’s my opinion about Disney and Club Penguin. Yeah I miss the old CP, but if it stayed the same since 2007, that would be pretty stupid too. Don’t whine about every little thing Disney changes, cause you never know, it might be a great idea in the end.

What do you think about this whole Disney thing? Leave a comment below, I promise I’ll read and reply to them!

Over and out,
Oilersmyth

Don’t Fear, Oilersmyth is Here!

Me in my Igloo :)

Me in my Igloo 🙂

Hey Howdy Hey! It’s your one and only, Oilersmyth! And I’m back with a brand new blog, dedicated to blogging about Club Penguin! If you don’t already know, I had a CP Blog back in 2007, so I’m not new to this game! I gave up blogging back then since it was taking up a lot of my time. But I’ve decided to give it another shot!

This time, I’ve decided to do things a little differently. Instead of posting about every single thing that happens in Club Penguin, I’ll write up a quick post every weekend. I’ll recap all the cool things I saw that week, and I’ll feature some igloos and people! We’ll see where it goes from there!

As for now, I’m gonna go waddle over to the Pizza Parlour for a quick bite!

Waddle Out,
Oilersmyth 🙂
